Stuff

Data Detection

feature

Stuff automatically detects useful data within your task names and notes, making that information clickable and actionable from the Hole Punch Menu.

What Gets Detected

  • URLs and Links - Web addresses become tappable links
  • Email Addresses - Tap to open your email client
  • Phone Numbers - Tap to call or message
  • Physical Addresses - Tap to open in Maps
  • Transit Information - Flight numbers and similar transit data If a Task includes several detected items, Stuff shows the separate options it finds in the Hole Punch Menu. Multiple email addresses stay together as one multi-recipient email action.

Filtering by Detected Type

On views that support filtering, you can filter tasks by their detected data type. For example, you could filter to show only tasks that contain a phone number or an email address. This is useful for quickly finding tasks that require a specific type of action, like making calls or sending emails.

How It Works

Data detection happens automatically as you type or when tasks are created. You don't need to do anything special - Stuff recognizes these patterns and makes them interactive.
