Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to pay for Stuff?

A large majority of the features of Stuff are included at no charge! Most people are able to download Stuff and start keeping track of their tasks right away. (P.S., my goal with making Stuff has always been to enable my Grandma to download a to-do list app that’s as simple as adding and completing tasks, without any extra hassle. My goal has also been to make that same app powerful and modular enough for someone like me - who adds thousands of tasks, sorts them into Spaces and Lists categorized by Tags with Dependencies, and more).

All of the features in Stuff which require a membership are features which have been deemed to be “Extra”, as in, they’re in addition to basic to-do list functionality. (i.e. my Grandma wouldn’t be interested in them).

Stuff is a product that has been in development for nearly 3 years, and thousands and thousands of hours! Your membership to Stuff allows me to commit time to continue building new features that help you to save time, be organized, and get stuff done.

Why is the Lifetime option the price that it is?

The lifetime purchase of Extra Stuff costs as much as approximately 4 years worth of an Annual Subscription, or a little over 3 years worth of a Monthly Subscription. If you, like me, anticipate using Stuff for at least that amount of time, and don’t want to worry about the hassle of a subscription - it’s a great option for you!

Personally, I’m not a big subscriptions person, and will almost always opt for purchasing something outright rather than managing the subscription. Even if it’s not necessarily more cost-effective, I like the idea and the feeling of owning something, and not feeling guilty if I pay for a subscription for a month but didn’t use it as much as I thought I should.

I think Lifetime makes a lot of sense for a to-do list app (especially one that you really like), where you always want it handy, don’t want to have to keep up on the subscription, and see it as a long-term tool that you’ll use.

Will my Lifetime purchase ever not include new features that get added to Stuff?

Short answer: Nope! By purchasing Lifetime, you’ll have all the features currently in Extra Stuff, and all the new features that come out that will be exclusive to Extra Stuff.

Longer answer: I anticipate that there may be some features added to Stuff in the future that will, to be fiscally responsible, require me to have that specific feature as a subscription-only option. The primary one that comes to mind is attaching Images to tasks or lists in Stuff. Getting into the weeds… Images are much more expensive from a technical and financial perspective to store and transmit to our databases than are other data types. Because of that, I don’t know that it would be sustainable to include this feature in the Lifetime purchase. Instead, it would likely be it’s own separate subscription (not part of Extra Stuff).

So the short answer is still technically correct. I think that, when the time comes that we get Image support in Stuff (or Video, or something similar), it will be a separate subscription that anyone interested would need to tack onto their current subscription or Lifetime purchase. But the Lifetime Purchase will always include all of the current and future features included in the Extra Stuff membership.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask them! I’ll always be as open as possible. hello@themitycompany.com.

Why do different regions have different prices?

Prices are automatically adjusted per region on the App Store based on the current value of different currencies.

Is my membership tied to my Stuff account?

Your membership is purchased through your Apple ID, meaning regardless of which Stuff account you’re signed into, that account will have access to Extra Stuff as long as the Apple ID which purchased Extra Stuff is signed into the device. It also means that if you sign into your account on a different device with a different Apple ID, even if you’ve previously purchased Extra Stuff with your account, the subscription will not register on that other device.

If you do switch accounts on Stuff on a device with an Apple ID that is currently subscribed to Extra Stuff, you may need to use the Restore Purchases button to get the subscription to register.

Does my membership allow me to share Extra Stuff with my family?

Yes! Any subscription to Extra Stuff, or purchase of Lifetime, allows sharing with up to 6 members of your Family, as defined by your Apple ID Family grouping.
